13-09-2024 – Britannia Taratala Factory Kolkatta News – Is this historic factory of Britannia going to be shut down?
Britannia is an Indian multinational food products company, breads, biscuit and dairy milk making company in India which was started in 1947 in Kolkata, West Bengal. Recently news is coming that this historic company is going to be shut down. On this the West Bengal government says that there is nothing like this and it is just a political propaganda.
Britannia had recently talked about closing down its Kolkata factory in the stock exchange filing and also said that nothing wrong would happen to any worker there and all employees would get the benefit of voluntary retirement scheme. In 2023, Britannia generate its 80% income from biscuits products only.
The West Bengal Government has said that they have talked to the company’s MD Varun Berry and he has promised that the company will work as before and will continue making products like cakes and biscuits.
